Klute Hair is an intimate haircut and hair colour salon in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario. Known for its innovative approach to low maintenance, highly customized hair services, Klute Hair specializes in everything from shags and mullets to pixies and classic styles, alongside hair colouring services ranging from subtle blondes to vivid hues.

Founded by Leesa Berry in 2011, Klute Hair Salon takes its name from Klute, the 1971 thriller starring Jane Fonda and what is undoubtedly one of the most iconic shag haircuts of all time. Since day one, Leesa's goal for Klute has been simple: to make great hair accessible, achievable, and easy to maintain. As the salon has grown from its roots as a one-chair operation, that philosophy has remained at the core of everything we do.

Each Klute stylist brings their own strengths and specialties, working across all hair textures (including thick and curly hair) to work their magic and create looks that not only feel great when you leave the chair, but fit seamlessly into your real everyday routine.

  • You’re in great hands with any Klute stylist!

    That said, each member of our team has their own specialties, and not every stylist offers the same services.

    We recommend checking out our TEAM page to learn more about each stylist’s specialties, pricing, and services to help find the best fit for you - as well as the FAQs below. 

  • Because every head of hair is different, our services are highly customized to each client. So if you’re a new client or planning a major transformation, yes, consultations are required.

    ★ HAIRCUTS (BOOKING WITH LEESA, MOON, OR PAUL) ★
    A thorough consultation is included with every haircut, but we take a more in-depth approach during first-time appointments. That's why all new clients are required to book the longer haircut appointment options, allowing us extra time to get to know you, your hair history, and your goals. No separate consultation booking is needed—simply book the correct haircut appointment appropriate for your hair type (see above).

    ★ COLOUR (BOOKING WITH MOON OR MARKIS) ★
    For all new colour clients or colour changes we do highly recommend booking a free consultation prior to your appointment to ensure we have the proper timing and product to ensure the best result. 


    When booking your COLOUR service, go to “Other” and select “Consultation”, in addition to your standard appointment. Consultations for colour consults can be done in-person or via video chat, and fees are deducted from the final service.

  • Please select “Bang, Neck, or Hairline Trim” through our online booking portal.

    NOTE: Bang trims are for maintaining existing bangs only. If you’re looking to get bangs cut for the first time, please book the appropriate “full” haircut appointment, reflective of your hair type.

    If you’re an existing client wanting a standard haircut/trim, please book a 60-min haircut. 

    If you’re an existing client wanting a standard haircut/trim, and have particularly thick and/or curly hair, please book a 90-min haircut.

    If you’re a first-time client wanting a standard haircut/trim, please book a 90 or 120 min haircut appointment, depending on your hair type.

    Book a 60-min appointment if your last haircut was within the last 3 months. Book a 90-min appointment if your last haircut was 3+ months ago.

    Book your standard haircut based on your existing hair length (Short, Medium, Long). If you are a new client, please book “Long Haircut” regardless of hair length. 

  • ★ BOOKING WITH LEESA?
    Leesa offers “Shag Maintenance” appointments, which are intended for existing clients of Leesa  who already have a shag, mullet, wolf cut, or similar style done by Leesa within the past 3-4 months.  These appointments focus on maintaining your shag, including the bangs, face framing, and crown.  If this sounds like you, then you’re who should book the “Shag Maintenance" service! Otherwise, keep reading:

    If you are an existing client with a shag haircut and want overall weight/length removal, and/or full reshaping, please book either a 60- or 90-minute haircut, depending on your hair type. 

    If you’re looking to get a shag for the first time (whether you’re a new client or an existing client) please book a 90- or 120- min haircut with Leesa, depending on your hair type.

    If you currently have a shag from another stylist or salon and are booking with Leesa for the first time, please also book a 90- or 120-min haircut, depending on your hair type.

    ★ BOOKING WITH PAUL? ★
    Book the appropriate appointment reflective of your hair type, regardless of your style (shag, mullet, or otherwise).

    If you’re an existing client and want a drastic change (e.g. long to short, bob, etc.), please book a 90 or 120 min haircut, depending on your hair type.

    Book your shag/mullet haircut based on your existing hair length (Short, Medium, Long) here. If you are a new client, please book “Long Haircut” regardless of hair length.

  • For children under 10 years old, select a Kids Cuts service with Paul or with Moon.

    For teens (11-17 years), book a Teen Haircut with Moon.

  • ★ BOOKING WITH MOON OR MARKIS? ★
    When booking your service, go to “Add ons” and select “Extra time”, in addition to your standard appointment.

    Existing clients: you may contact your stylist to confirm the right service for you.

    New clients: A free consultation is included in booking to confirm the appropriate colour service for you.

    All clients: Please submit a reference photo! 

  • Shampoos are included in every colour service.

    Shampoos are not guaranteed with every haircut (please come with clean, dry hair). So if you’d like one, please book one as an add-on with your stylist (aka book more time and leave a note!).

  • Select “Shampoo & Style” under “Styling” while booking with Moon. 

SELECTING YOUR SERVICE(S) AND STYLIST(S)

BOOKING, PRICING, AND PAYMENTS

  • Klute Hair Salon follows a genderless pricing model. Why? Because we’re an inclusive space, and hair is hair. 

    Rather than charging different prices for “men’s” versus “women’s” haircuts, our pricing is based on factors like hair length, texture, timing, and the services being provided. We believe this approach is more inclusive, more transparent, and simply makes more sense.

    If genderless pricing doesn’t align with what you’re looking for, another salon may be a better fit.


  • Pricing varies slightly between team members, as each Klute stylist sets their own rates. While our SERVICES page outlines the general pricing range for each Klute service, we recommend visiting our TEAM page for each stylist's specific pricing.

    Please note: If you prebook your service(s) accurately, then the listed price is likely to reflect your final payment’s base fee (aka pre-tax, etc.) However, prices may be subject to change pending your actual appointment (e.g. if you book a bang trim but needed a shag maintenance, if you booked a regular haircut but needed a major transformation, etc.)

  • Bang trims are a PAID service at Klute Hair Salon.

    Because our cuts are highly customized, a bang trim is rarely just a few quick snips. Instead, it often involves reshaping and blending the bangs into the overall haircut.

  • We require sufficient notice for cancellations so our stylists have the opportunity to fill your appointment slot. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, as well as no-shows, are subject to a fee equal to 60% of the scheduled service price. 

    Appointments should be cancelled through our online booking portal whenever possible. If you’re unable to do so, please email us at info@klutehair.com or speak directly with a staff member by phone. Please do not cancel appointments by voicemail, as messages are not monitored outside operating hours. 

  • While we do not offer financial refunds on services, we’re always happy to work with clients to address any reasonable concerns with their hair.

  • The Klute Hair team are all independent artists who manage their own payment systems. Accepted payment methods vary by stylist accordingly.

    Leesa, Paul, and Markis accept debit, credit (excluding AMEX), cash (although we won’t always have exact change, sorry!) and e-transfer (for existing clients only). Moon accepts e-transfer and cash as payment methods.

  • Yes! Klute Hair is happy to honour tax exemptions for eligible Indigenous clients who hold a valid Status Card issued under the Federal Indian Act.

    To have the tax exemption applied to your service, please bring your card with you to your appointment, as we'll need the card number at the time of payment.

  • We do accept walk-ins, but availability is never guaranteed.

    As Klute specializes in highly customized services, we never compromise booked clients’ appointment times to accommodate walk-ins.

  • Our team tends to be booked and busy (aka the availability that you see online is pretty accurate).  We recommend booking the first available appointment that works for you. It may seem far away, but it creeps up faster than you think!

  • Yes, please! Reference photos help ensure you and your stylist are aligned on your goals before your appointment. 

    This is especially helpful if you're:
    -A new client
    -Booking a major transformation
    -Booking any colour service with Moon

    When booking your appointment online, we encourage you to include a reference photo whenever possible.

  • We recommend you contact your stylist directly. Their contact information can be found on our TEAM page.

    You are also welcome to call the salon during business hours, but we do not recommend sending text messages to the salon phone, as it’s a landline. Additionally, please note that voicemails are only checked and returned during operating hours, so responses may be delayed outside of those times.

PLANNING FOR YOUR VISIT

  • For haircut appointments, we request you arrive with clean, dry hair, styled as you’d normally wear it. If you have bangs, please avoid pinning them back before your appointment, as this helps your stylist see your hair in the real world. 

    Please note that our haircutting services do not always include a shampoo and/or blowdry unless specifically requested and pre-booked, as additional appointment time is required. If the state of your hair requires a shampoo and/or blowdry in order to complete your booked service, additional fees may apply, and/or your appointment may need to be rescheduled.


  • We know some appointments, especially “Major Transformations” and first visits, can feel more comfy with a +1. That said, space and seating in our waiting area is limited, so they may be more comfortable roaming the great spots in our neighbourhood.

  • Service animals are absolutely welcome at Klute. In some cases, we may ask you to provide acceptable documentation.

  • Street parking is (sometimes) available near Klute Hair, with paid parking on Queen Street West. There’s also Green P Parking ($) a half block away next to Dollarama. Please read parking signs clearly though, as the Klute team aren’t car folks, so we can’t be much help to you here!

    That said…this is Toronto, so we recommend taking public transit when possible!. The 501 Queen streetcar stops just steps away at Queen Street West and Dunn Avenue, and we’re a short bus ride from both Dufferin and Lansdowne stations. There are also bike racks in front of Capital Espresso next door.

  • Klute Hair is accessible to most mobility aids, including most wheelchairs.

    Our salon space does not contain any stairs, and we can accommodate some mobility aids near or in place of our service chairs. Our washroom is located within the main salon space and does not require any stairs to access; however, it is narrow and may not accommodate all mobility devices.

    Please note that our main Dunn Avenue entrance has a small step at the threshold. This has not typically been an issue for our wheelchair-using clients when assistance is available. If you require mobility assistance or have any accessibility concerns, please let your stylist know in advance so we can ensure we're able to accommodate you accordingly.

    As an alternative, the salon can also be accessed through Capital Espresso next door, which has a ramped entrance. If you require ramp access, please ensure your appointment falls within Capital Espresso’s operating hours, as they typically close around 4pm.

  • Nah, we’re not that kind of salon. That said, you’re more than welcome to bring snacks or drinks with you, especially for longer appointments.

    Capital Espresso is literally right next door too, and they make a mean cappuccino.
